Artist Statement
I create art through a variety of materials including oils, pastel, watercolor, colored pencil, and graphite. My subject matter is equally diverse: landscapes, still life studies and pets. Working in these genres reflects my special interest in color intensity and dynamism. I love colors and how they interact and like to push intensity past what is viewed in life, creating a bolder palette.
On portraits, I enjoy the challenge in capturing an accurate likeness. Pencils are my preference for pet portraits to capture a likeness of fur. Portraiture is the most difficult artistic endeavor for me and is most satisfying.
In 2002, I joined forces with two area artists to form the group Brushstrokes, and have since held group showings at the Gallery at 333 and Quiet Waters Gallery.
I am fortunate to pursue my passion - art.
